À la Carte framing

We provide solutions for existing frame jobs that need updating or repairing and are happy to help you out with your DIY project!

Cutting a mat:

Any colour and any size is possible although we do stock white, black, grey and a neutral if you are in a hurry.  For us to properly choose the correct colour and get the sizing right, please bring your artwork and frame with you to the shop.

Replacing glass/ Cutting glass for your project:

Broken glass?  No problem.

We offer three options in glazing when replacing glass:  production picture framing glass (what would be in a ready made frame), our Conservation Clear with 99% UV blocking protection, and our Museum Glass which also has 99% UV blocking protection as well as Anti-Reflective technology just like your eyeglasses do.  Please bring your piece in and let us remove the old glass and give you back your piece ready for hanging.

We can also cut a sized piece of glass for your DIY project…. please bring in your frame for proper sizing by us.

Mounting your piece:

Mounting techniques and processes vary greatly depending on what is being framed and a professional picture framer has a large “tool box” of skills in order to safely and securely mount items into a framing package.

Works on paper look best dry mounted flat in your framing project and rolled canvases need to be stretched or re-stretched onto stretcher stock in order to hang them.

If you are not sure how to mount your item in your DIY project, consider outsourcing it.

Fitting & Finishing:

Fitting your “mat pack” (mounted artwork, matting and glass) or your canvas into the frame usually takes specialized tools and hardware.

Finishing the project out includes a dustcover on the back with proper hanging hardware (wall hanger included) and bumpons to protect your wall (and help keep the piece from swinging).

Hanging hardware installation:

Just need proper hanging hardware on your finished piece?  Bring it on by and let us help!
